How I Keep My Hair Happy

Ever since I can remember I’ve been at war with my hair, until now.

I’ve probably tried the majority of shampoos, conditioners, treatments and serums available on the market to tame my hair. I’ve always had thick, coarse, unruly, frizzy hair, so getting it to look half decent was always a drama. I’m lucky in the sense that I only need to wash my hair once a week as it doesn’t tend to get greasy. That once a week was enough, though!

When straighteners came along I thought all my problems would be gone. Straightening my hair took so long, though, so I’d have to plan my hair care for going out at weekends. I’d wash, dry and straighten my hair the day before so it would be tame the following day. I’d usually just give up though and tie it up. I’d never just jump in the shower and wash my hair before going out or before work in the morning.

Going to a salon was always fun, I’m sure most of the stylist were overwhelmed by the amount of hair I had. A salon session would take so long, sometimes I’d have to leave half way through so I wasn’t late for work or because the 5 hours parking ticket was about to run out. Straightening my hair would take someone at least half an hour. After the 50 minutes, they’d spent blow drying it. This is half the reason I avoid salons and maybe go once a year; the other half because I’m growing my hair. People often ask why my hair grows so quick. I don’t think it does, I just don’t cut it.

Fly forward 15 years’ and I discover keratin products (a fibrous protein forming the main structural constituent of hair) My hair transformed!  Since using OGX Keratin shampoo, conditioner and oil I’ve never looked back. Now I don’t fear washing my hair ‘last minute’ anymore as I know my hair will be silky, frizz free, manageable, shiny and smelling gorgeous.

From time to time I do try other brands but then wonder ‘why my hair isn’t behaving quite as I’d like’ taking me back to my trusted OGX.

After shampoo and conditioner, I spray my mid to end lengths with the Weightless Rapid Reviving Oil. If I blow dry or straighten my locks I will use the Flat Iron Spray. Most of the time I try to let it dry ‘naturally’ and it will dry perfectly with no frizz.

Between washes, I may use a small amount of the oil on the ends for added moisture and if it’s feeling a bit greasy in the roots I just use a quick spray of CoLab Active Dry Shampoo.

Now I love my hair.
